On July 1, 2012, New York State's Dignity for All Students Act went into effect.

The purpose of the Dignity Act is to create a safe and supportive school climate where students can learn and focus, rather than fear being discriminated against and/or verbally and/or physically harassed.

The Moravia Central School District recognizes that learning environments that are safe and supportive can increase student attendance and improve academic achievement. A student's ability to learn and achieve high academic standards, and a school's ability to educate students, is compromised by incidents of discrimination or harassment, including but not limited to bullying, taunting, and intimidation.

Each building and department has a designated Dignity Act Coordinator. This person has been trained to handle human relations in the areas of race, color, weight, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, gender (identity or expression), and sex.

If you want to file a DASA complaint, contact your child's home school DASA representative and ask for a DASA form. Fill out that form and submit it to the building DASA representative.
